The HEADstong Foundation has generously donated over 200 pieces of it’s distinctive lime green mesh as part of what the PLA and HEADstrong are calling the “HEADstring” initiative. Donated sticks will be re-strung with the lime green mesh and will be donated to the lacrosse programs in the Philadelphia School District as part of the PLA’s City Initiative, which works to grow the sport of boy’s and girl’s lacrosse within the school district of Philadelphia.

It is both a coincidence and a fitting tribute that Team HEADstrong Memphis will be taking the field in their signature lime green for the first time on the 27th of July at the Southern Exposure Lax Clash at Limestone College in South Carolina. The number 27 holds significance to the HEADstrong Foundation because it was the number worn by Founder Nicholas Colleluori.

SOUTH LYON, MI- In an event to generate awareness, funds, and support for the fight against blood cancer, the South Lyon United Lacrosse Club completed its 2nd annual “Charity Game” on Wednesday, May 12 with proceeds benefiting towards the HEADstrong Foundation. Rival programs South Lyon United and Novi High School, face-off with South Lyon prevailing 12-11 in a hard fought matchup.

Nick Colleluori Unsung Hero Award
The Nick Colleluori Unsung Hero Award was established in 2007 to recognize the accomplishments of a male and female student-athlete who helped their respective teams achieve success in ways that may not always be measured by statistics. The award seeks to acknowledge those student-athletes who have not been adequately recognized during their careers, yet have always been exceptional representatives of the Hofstra Athletics Program. The award is named after the former Pride lacrosse player, who waged a courageous 14-month fight against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, before passing away in November 2006 at age 21.
Annually the Colleluori family presents local high school students with the Nicholas E. Colleluori Memorial Scholarship and HEADstrong Foundation Award for their academic excellence and athletic accomplishments.
On Wednesday May 16, 2012 at the Ridley High School Senior Awards Ceremony, Cheryl and Pat Colleluori, the parents of former Ridley student-athlete and HEADstrong founder Nick Colleluori were on hand to present the prestigious Nicholas E. Colleluori Memorial Scholarship.
