HEADstrong Lime Going For The Green; Team HEADstrong Assembles for IL Powerball

Holmes, PA – The Colleluori family understands all to well, the hardships associated with battling cancer. Today, as patient advocates they pull from their personal experience and the journey of their late son, brother and HEADstrong Founder Nicholas to benefit the lives of others who are now walking in their cleats.

With medical bills mounting, extended hospital stays, experimental treatments requiring trips to NHI in Bethesda, MD, prescriptions not covered by insurance and leaves of absence from work in an effort to provide support and care, the Colleluori family found themselves drowning financially in the wake of Nick Colleluori’s diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2005. It was these hard times which helped frame the service offering now provided by the HEADstrong Foundation.

“One of the hardest things for someone to do is swallow their pride and ask for assistance. Our family found ourselves in an incredibly desperate situation. The reality is that the financial aftermath of cancer can be just as devastating as the disease itself.” says Cheryl Colleluori, HEADstrong President and Nick’s Mom

This July 20-22, 2012 in Atlantic City, the HEADstrong Foundation will be taking part of the IL Powerball Tournament competing in the Money Division. Should Team HEADstrong win the tournament, 100% of the $25,000 cash prize will be directly donated to blood cancer patients and their families in need of financial assistance.

“We are so excited to take the field in memory of our Founder and my brother Nicholas. This is a call to action to our players interested in facing-off against blood cancer. We are hoping to assemble to group of talented and incredibly competitive players who believe in our mission and want to be apart of something larger then the game. Every 4 minutes someone is newly diagnosed and together we can shutout this disease” Michael Colleluori, Team HEADstrong Organizer, COO HEADstrong Foundation
