KEEPING FAMILIES TOGETHER

Nick’s House provides 2,555 complimentary nights annually for out-of-town cancer patients and their families traveling to the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Nick’s House is not a medical facility but a guest house designed to meet the unique needs of patients, their families and/or caregivers.

WHY NICK’S HOUSE?

Newly diagnosed cancer patients are regularly forced to travel hundreds and thousands of miles to purse life-saving treatment offered specifically in the Greater Philadelphia region. For many of them, the financial burdens associated with a stay that can exceed 50 days actually weighs into their decision to seek care. Through the HEADstrong Foundation’s Nick’s House residential support service, lodging just outside the city is offered to patients and their families for the duration of their treatment. Our goal is to bring a sense of normalcy to patient’s lives, and keeping families together in the fight is a must.

NICK’S HOUSE ELIGIBILITY

Some eligibility requirements must be met for residency applicants to stay at Nick’s House. Patients must be undergoing cancer treatment at the time of the application, applicants must travel at least 50 miles one way from Philadelphia, minimum stay needs be 3 days, all applicants must have a permanent address to return to, and all patients staying at Nick’s House must be accompanied by an adult caregiver at all times.
