HEADstrong Partners with AMLE for #Family1st Campaign

The HEADstrong Foundation has teamed up with the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) through their #Family1st Campaign. The idea behind the partnership is to help promote the physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of students and their families in these unprecedented times.

The Association for Middle Level Education is the leading organization advancing the education of all students ages 10 to 15, helping them succeed as learners and make positive contributions to their communities and to the world.

“It was not so long ago when my own children were in middle school. I’m reminded of those important years creating memories, building character and values that will last a lifetime. We are extremely honored to partner with AMLE and have their support of our Family1st campaign. We hope all families that participate will be reminded of the importance of taking time as a family to be together while embracing our mission of improving lives affected by cancer. This means the world to us,” HEADstrong President Cheryl Colleluori said.

The HEADstrong Foundation is challenging families nationwide to put their #Family1st by engaging in a 27-minute family activity on Friday, May 15th, International Day of Families, to raise funds to support families navigating cancer and at the highest risk of COVID-19. Specific to this unique partnership, HEADstrong has created a Dance Challenge for middle school students.

Tik-Tok has emerged as a viral platform during this quarantine and HEADstrong sees great potential on this app. There are all sorts of dances kids can teach their family, so the opportunities are endless. As a challenge within the campaign, HEADstrong will be selecting the most creative dance videos that are shared on social media, and awarding gear prizes to that family! To enter, simply choreograph a dance and record it on May 15th to celebrate #Family1st. Don’t forget to tag @HEADstrongFND and use #AMLEmoves & #Family1st.

“AMLE is thrilled to partner with the HEADstrong Foundation to celebrate International Day of Families through the #Family1st initiative. AMLE’s community of more than 50,000 middle school educators knows how successful we can be when we leverage the power of our students and their families. During this challenging time, families have partnered with educators in an unprecedented way to meet the needs of our teens. But middle school students around the country are also wondering what they can do to support their communities and make a difference while sheltering at home. This initiative mobilizes the power of our teens to bring families together around supporting our most vulnerable community members. We can’t wait to see how our middle school families spend their 27 minutes with their families on May 15th to put #Family1st!” said Stephanie Auditore Chief Executive Officer for AMLE.
