Strike Out Against Cancer
The Widener University Women’s Softball Team dedicated yesterday’s double header against Eastern College to the HEADstrong Foundation. Senior player, #14 Jamie Schmucker wanted to show her support for the work of the foundation and presented her ideas to the coaching staff and other members of the team. The decision was unanimous, the girls’ worn lime green shirts and headbands during the game, sold shirts, food and conducted a 50/50 with the proceeds being donated to the foundation. Schmucker, a former neighbor of Nicholas Colleluori, saw firsthand the toll a disease takes on a family and wanted to share Nick’s story with the softball community. Cheryl Colleluori took a minute to address the team and thanked the coaching staff for their efforts. The foundation thanks Widener University, the Women’s Softball Coaches, team and spectators.
