Volunteer

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.

The HEADstrong Foundation welcomes all volunteers to join our fight against cancer, specifically blood cancers.  You can help make a difference by sharing your time, talent and resources as a local community volunteer.

Our volunteers assist with fundraising, special events, administrative duties and outreach.  We understand your time is valuable and ask that you please complete the form below indicating your expertise so we can best utilize your time such as, (coaching, athletic training, event coordinating, grant writing, graphic design, website expertise, social media experience, etc.). Below are some ways in which you can become involved as a volunteer and make a big impact for those who have been affected by blood cancer.

HEADtable

HEADtable, Serving Hope is a program that prepares and serves meals and provides entertainment to inpatient blood cancer patients several times a year. HEADtable is a great opportunity for volunteers to assist in serving meals and to interact with patients at area hospitals in a social atmosphere.  Centered on providing some normalcy, HEADtable surely provides volunteers and HEADstrong the ability to have a true impact on those affected by cancer.  Interested volunteers will be contacted a few weeks prior to event dates with information on signing-up and details of the event.

Nicholas Colleluori Classic (NCC)

The Nicholas Colleluori Classic is held annually in October at Ridley High School in Folsom, PA.  Dedicated to remembering the life and legacy of HEADstrong founder, Nicholas “HEAD” Colleluori, the NCC offers an enjoyable weekend of collegiate lacrosse while promoting the importance of community, brotherhood, and sportsmanship within the game.  Volunteers assist us in a variety of ways during this event including ticket booths, snack stands, program sales, raffle table and more.  We will contact you via email in September with specific information regarding this year’s event and the needs for volunteers.  At this time, you will be able to sign-up to be a part of this exciting event!

Blood & Bone Marrow Drive

The Annual Blood Drive is held the day after Thanksgiving at the Ridley Community Center in conjunction with the American Red Cross.  For patients battling Lymphoma, Leukemia, and Myeloma, a consistent supply of blood is necessary.  Nick Colleluori, HEADstrong Founder, required multiple blood transfusions during his battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  Volunteers will help with tasks such as set-up and registration and will be contacted in early November.

Lime Light Gala (LLG)

March 2014 will mark our 4th Annual Lime Light Gala.  The evening will shine the lime light on blood cancers by offering an incredible silent auction, stories of hope shared by blood cancer patients and survivors, memories of Nicholas and his inspirational story, honoree presentations, recognition of advancements in innovative research, scrumptious food, live music, dancing, and more!  Volunteers are critical to ensure this event is top notch and enjoyed by all attendees.  From manning registration to assisting with the silent auction (both leading up to and on the night of the gala), there are many opportunities for volunteers to make the event a success.

Host a Fundraiser Event

Office

HEADstrong volunteers play a big role in helping with the day-to-day tasks of the Foundation.  From assembling comfort kits, to data entry, to packing awareness merchandise orders, to mass mailings, we rely on the dedicated and efficient work of our volunteers.  Have a special service you can offer the Foundation? Let us know and we would be happy to find a way to put your time and skills to use!

Thank you for interest in furthering our cause and helping us get aHEAD of cancer!
