Stadtmauer To Be Honored with Achievement Award at 6th Annual Lime Light Gala, 3/11

PHILADELPHIA – On Friday, March 11th Edward Stadtmauer, MD of the Abramson Cancer Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania will be honored with the prestigious HEADstrong Achievement Award, at the 6th Annual Lime Light Gala.  The HEADstrong Achievement Award was created in 2012 to recognize a physician for their outstanding achievements in the fight against cancer.  Stadtmauer becomes the 5th recipient of the award, joining fellow colleagues: Stephen J. Schuster, MD, Sunita D. Nasta, MD FACP, Carl H. June, MD and Chi Van Dang, MD Ph D.

Stadtmauer is Chief of the Hematologic Malignancies Section at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He is also the Co-Leader of the ACC Hematologic Malignancies Research Program and the Penn Medicine Hematologic Malignancies Translational Center of Excellence. He has been associated with the university for over 25 years. He was the Co-Chairman of the Bone Marrow Transplant Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) for ten years and is a member of the Myeloma and Leukemia Core Committees. He has been associated with the CIBMTR for over a decade with leadership positions including chair of the nominating committee, co-chair Solid Tumor Working Committee and member of the Clinical Trials Advisory Committee. He is also a founding member of the Steering Committee of the NIH sponsored Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trial Network and a founding member of the Academic Myeloma Clinical Trials Consortium. He is also member of the International Myeloma Working Group.  Dr. Stadtmauer is widely published on the subjects of multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemia, and bone marrow transplantation. He has been appointed to the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.  His works have appeared in such premier peer-reviewed journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, British Journal of Hematology, Blood, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Nature Medicine, Lancet Oncology and Annals of Internal Medicine. He is on the Career Development Award Selection Committee for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. His work has ranged from conducting the definitive study of autologous bone marrow transplant for breast cancer to pioneering clinical trials cellular immunotherapy and vaccination for blood cancers.
