Ten NFL Stars, One Broadcaster To Represent The HEADstrong Foundation Through NFL’s My Cause My Cleats Initiative

PHILADELPHIA — Starting on Sunday, for the second consecutive season, numerous NFL stars will take the field representing the HEADstrong Foundation through the My Cause My Cleats initiative.

Building off of the success of having five players represent the Foundation last year, 10 players will showcase their support for HEADstrong and its mission this season. In addition, a broadcaster will be participating in the initiative in support of HEADstrong while on the sidelines.

On Sunday at 1 p.m., Randy Gregory of the Broncos will take on the Baltimore Ravens representing the Foundation while Mario Edwards of the Titans will be in Philadelphia wearing HEADstrong cleats against the Eagles. Rayshawn Jenkins of the Jacksonville Jaguars will hit the field wearing HEADstrong cleats at the Detroit Lions, also at 1 p.m., and Allen Lazard will represent HEADstrong with the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears. Also in the 1 p.m. time slot, CBS sideline reporter Evan Washburn will wear custom HEADstrong sneakers to support the cause.

That afternoon, Joe Mixon and La’el Collins of the Cincinnati Bengals will represent HEADstrong while taking on the Kansas City Chiefs at 4:25 p.m. Tashawn Bower of the Oakland Raiders will face off against the Los Angeles Chargers representing HEADstrong at that same time and Tony Jones Jr. of the Seattle Seahawks will represent HEADstrong against the Los Angeles Rams. On Monday night, Zach Triner will represent HEADstrong for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they take on the New Orleans Saints. On December 11th, Phil Hoskins will represent HEADstrong with the Carolina Panthers against the Seattle Seahawks at 4:25 p.m.

Anyone wishing to donate to HEADstrong on one of these players behalf can do so at https://headstrong.org/mcmc/.  Following My Cleats, My Cause games, the NFL will auction off the cleats with all proceeds going to HEADstrong.

The initiative, created in 2016, is designed for NFL players to showcase the charitable cause that is most important to them in front of a national audience. Participating players and broadcasters will wear custom-designed cleats or sneakers. For HEADstrong, the cleats and sneakers were created by Dan “Mache” Gamache, Marcus Rivero, Ari Solomon and Carly Fleischer.

All of the cleats and sneakers worn to represent HEADstrong feature the Foundation’s logo as well its signature lime green and blue colorway. In addition, Washburn’s sneakers will feature HEADstrong’s signature lime green shoelaces. Each player had the opportunity to customize pieces of their cleats, including initials of people close to them who have been affected by cancer. The majority of the players’ cleats feature the initials GS and LS in honor of the children of those players’ agent, Peter Schaffer, who are both in remission from lymphoma. On one of Mixon’s cleats, the logo of Cancer Kids of San Joaquin County along with the name of a sister of a former teammate who passed away from cancer in 2019, Peyton Jones, is featured. Jenkins’ second cleat features the logo of the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition and incorporates an orange colorway as well.

Founded in 2007 by the late Nicholas Colleluori, the HEADstrong Foundation is relentless in improving the quality of life for those affected by cancer with financial, emotional and residential support, including Nick’s  House.
