HF’s Cheryl Colleluori Appointed To Abramson’s Cancer Center Leadership Council

University City, PA – 7 years ago a young man facing a terminal diagnosis of Mature B-cell non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma sat in a hospital room on the 6th floor of the Rhoads Pavilion hooked up to a chemo pole and dreamed about how he could change the game for cancer patients and their families. From his hospital bed, Nicholas Colleluori conceptualized the organization now known as the HEADstrong Foundation™. In 2006, during the last days of his life he asked his mother Cheryl to see his vision into fruition. Today, the HEADstrong Foundation has emerged into a national resource committed to empowering patients and their families to live with greater quality of life and a greater sense of hope during their battle with cancer.

This week HF President Cheryl Colleluori was appointed to the Directors Leadership Council of the Abramson Cancer Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Whether it is providing families with meals and outlets of entertainment through their HEADtable™ program, peer-to-peer outpatient support through their HEAD2head™ program, delivering comfort kits and educational resources to enhance accommodations for those going through treatment or transplant, HEADstrong Foundation™ continues to play a very crucial role in the lives of patients and families receiving both inpatient/outpatient care at ACC. Additionally, the organization funds the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund under the direction of Stephen J. Schuster, MD.

“It is both an honor and a privilege to serve on the ACCDLC amongst an amazing group of distinguished, influential and respected philanthropists and physicians. As Nick’s voice and a representative to the patient population, I hope to positively contribute to enhancing the experience and accommodations for patients and families receiving care at the Abramson Cancer Center.” Cheryl Colleluori, HF President and Nick’s Mom
