The Nick Colleluori Men’s Lacrosse Classic enters its 12th year at Hofstra University, Nick’s collegiate alma mater.

HOLMES, Pa. — The HEADstrong Foundation will host its next three fall lacrosse events on Saturday, Oct. 13: the Nick Colleluori Men’s Lacrosse Long Island Classic, the Nick Colleluori Men’s Lacrosse Albany Classic and the College Lacrosse Against Cancer Classic. Since 2007, HEADstrong has presented a series of fall collegiate men’s and women’s lacrosse philanthropic events. Originating at Ridley High School, Colleluori’s alma mater, the series has expanded to nine events overall that are hosted regionally in conjunction with collegiate partnerships. The second weekend of October will be the second of three consecutive weekends during the month to feature multiple lacrosse events at multiple locations.

The Nick Colleluori Men’s Lacrosse Classic will return to Hofstra University, Nick’s alma mater, for the 12th consecutive year on Saturday, Oct. 13. The event will feature host Hofstra, Bucknell University, Bryant University, Siena College, Lehigh University and the United States Air Force Academy. The schedule for the day’s games is as follows:

“Twelve years later, our founder, and my son, Nicholas’ presence is still felt here at Hofstra,” said Cheryl Colleluori, HEADstrong President and Nick’s mom. “This University and this team meant the world to Nick and, as per his request, he was buried in his No. 27 uniform. Coach Tierney, Coach Smith and the entire Hofstra community, thank you for not forgetting! The events here at Hofstra means more than you will ever know.”

In addition to the event at Hofstra, there will also be a Nick Colleluori Men’s Lacrosse Classic held at the University at Albany on the same day. This event features host Albany, Johns Hopkins University, University of Vermont and the United States Military Academy. The Albany itinerary will look like this:

WHEN: 11 a.m. — Johns Hopkins vs. Albany (Field 1); Army vs. Vermont (Field 2)

12:30 p.m. — HEADstrong presentation

1 p.m. — Albany vs. Army (Field 1); Johns Hopkins vs. Vermont (Field 2)

WHERE: The University at Albany: 1400 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY, 12222

“I’d like to express deep appreciation to Coach Scott Marr for bringing our event to Albany this year,” Cheryl Colleluori said. “We are thrilled to touch a new audience as we strive to expand our reach, allowing us to assist more families affected by cancer. We thank all the coaches for embracing us and committing to the vision of our founder, my son, Nicholas.”

Elsewhere on Long Island that day, Farmingdale State College will host the College Lacrosse Against Cancer Classic. The event will feature Farmingdale State, Nassau County Community College, New York Institute of Technology and the United States Military Academy Preparatory School. The schedule for that event is as follows:

“It’s unbelievable to witness the growth of our fall event series,” said Cheryl Colleluori, HEADstrong President and Nick’s mom. “In 2007, the inaugural Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic was held at Nick’s high school with just four teams. This year the series spans nine locations with 42 teams representing — it’s an amazing testament to our sport and the greatest tribute to a son that a parent could ask for!”

In lieu of admission to both events, a suggested donation of $5.00 per person will be asked at the gate. For more information on the HEADstrong Foundation, please visit headstrong.org and follow the foundation on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @HEADstrongFnd.
