Attack Cancer Master’s Lacrosse Team Take The Field At Florida Lacrosse Classic For A Higher Purpose

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — In a powerful display of athleticism, camaraderie, and philanthropy, the HEADstrong Foundation’s Team Attack Cancer recently took the field at the Florida Lacrosse Classic. This group of Master’s level lacrosse players, organized by Eric Gorman of Avir Realty Group, showcased not only their skills on the field but also their commitment to raising awareness and funds for the HEADstrong Foundation. Despite falling short in the championship, the team’s impact reached far beyond the lacrosse field, fostering important conversations about cancer prevalence, the benefits of an active lifestyle and the meaningful use of one’s platform.

Comprising some of the top Master’s level lacrosse players from Greater Philadelphia and Baltimore, the team brought together a formidable roster of talent including: Jim Brundige, Paul Butala, Pat Carney, Doug Corrigan, Mark Diamond, Mike Frederick, Eric Gorman, Matt Harold, John Hoffman, Jerry Hood, Steve Kisslinger, Paul Linko, Kevin Matthews, Jim Mercer, Mike Murphy, Johnny Rogers, Warren Siaton, Nate Smith, Matt Timmins and Mark Wike.

Led by Gorman’s organizational prowess, these athletes shared a common goal – to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Jim Mercer, a player on the team, reflected on his personal connection to the cause, stating, “Having skin cancer this year was a trial, and luckily the doctors caught it early. Being able to play for HEADstrong resonates even more!”

What sets Team Attack Cancer apart is not just their prowess with a lacrosse stick but the genuine camaraderie that extends beyond the field of play. Mercer emphasized the strong bond among team members, saying, “The camaraderie on and off the field is truly evident, and that’s what I love about lacrosse in general; building lifelong friendships.” This sense of unity adds a layer of purpose to their efforts, as they come together not just as teammates but as advocates for a cause that has touched many lives.

While the team may not have emerged victorious in the championship game, they triumphed in fostering a crucial dialogue about cancer awareness and prevention. Their performance highlighted the resilience of those who have battled cancer and underscored the importance of an active lifestyle in promoting overall well-being. The players, through their actions, showcased how using their platform can make a significant difference in the lives of others.

Beyond the thrill of the game, the efforts of Team Attack Cancer are directed towards a noble cause – supporting families overcome by cancer through the HEADstrong Foundation. The proceeds from their endeavors will directly contribute to providing assistance, resources, and comfort to those navigating the challenging journey of cancer.

As Mercer expressed, the team eagerly anticipates the next adventure and tournament with this remarkable group. Their commitment to the HEADstrong Foundation is not just a one-time event but an ongoing mission to make a positive impact in the lives of cancer-affected families.:
