Team Thailand Sports HEADstrong Gear

Thailand National Lacrosse team defeated Hong Kong National Lacrosse team 10 – 8 on it’s first of the two game series in Hong Kong. History was made one night in July, as it marked the first ever game and victory for the TLA. On top of that Team Thailand is the first team in the APLU (Asia Pacific Lacrosse Union) that officially supports HEADstrong foundation.

All the players as well as staffers wore the HEADstrong’s signature neon green laces, and bracelet as they battled for the “Thailand – Hong Kong” friendly Cup trophy. It was a team’s gesture in memory of Nick, and showing the support for the fight against blood cancer. To the managing director of TLA and a captain of the men’s team; Prantarit (Payu) Nerngchamnong it was much more personal:

“It is an honored for me, and the team to be a part of HEADstrong mission to defeat blood cancer. I hope that we can do our part in bringing the awareness globally, beyond the United States’ lacrosse community. Blood cancer had claimed a few of my love one lives, and it is vital for us to be relentless in finding the cure for not just blood, but any kind of cancer”

On top of wearing the bracelet and the shoelaces, some of the players even went as far as using the laces for shooting strings, and to lace up their gloves. Thailand will not take part in this year’s world game in Manchester, but will compete in several tournaments for 2010 where they’ll continue to sport HEADstrong gears. Thailand will host Hong Kong for a second time of 2010 in October before they prepared for more competition.
