Foxborough, MA – With the National Football League taking a stance against cancer during the month of October, New England Patriots Wide Receiver #15 Chris Hogan is proud to announce Chris Hogan’s Hands for HEADstrong campaign.  Hogan reaffirmed his commitment to pledging each catch to the HEADstrong Foundation during the 2017-18 season and is stepping up his efforts by pledging $27 per reception and $150 per touchdown.  Hogan’s pledge amounts are significant to the HEADstrong Foundation, as #27 was HEADstrong founder Nick Colleluori’s number when he played for Hofstra University and $150 funds a night at Nick’s House, a guest family home which provides complimentary lodging for patients and families displaced for comprehensive cancer care and clinical trials.  Already this season, Hogan has grabbed 28 passes with an average of 13.8 yards per reception and 5 touchdowns and with more than half the season left to play, Hogan is empowering the Patriots faithful to join his efforts by matching his contributions.

HEADstrong Foundation is a non-profit organization working to improve lives affected by cancer, HEADstrong.org.  Last season, Hogan played a pivotal role in New England’s success emerging as a reliable target for Tom Brady.  During the regular season Hogan snagged 38 receptions for 680 total yards and 4 touchdowns.  He led the NFL in most yards per reception but it was his team record setting performance during the AFC Championship against the Pittsburgh Steelers in which he recorded 9 catches for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns that solidified his place in Patriots history.  At the conclusion of the season Hogan presented a donation to the HEADstrong Foundation, helping to advance the mission.

HEADstrong Foundation was started by multisport athlete Nicholas Colleluori who was terminally diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2005 while playing lacrosse at Hofstra University. As a patient, Colleluori witnessed a lack of available resources and created the organization to help families navigate their cancer journey with greater dignity and normalcy. He championed awareness for the cause until his untimely passing in 2006 but his legacy lives on through HEADstrong’s relentless efforts. In addition to playing lacrosse, Colleluori was also earned All-State high school honors in both football and wrestling. As a multi-sport athlete who played lacrosse collegiately at Penn State University prior to transferring to Monmouth University to pursue football, Hogan was inspired to get involved, serving as the organizations NFL player ambassador since 2015.  The funds raised through Hogan’s and others receptions this season continue to be instrumental in assisting families through HEADstrong’s financial assistance program as well as Nick’s House.

“Winning a Super Bowl Championship last season was truly a dream come true and it meant even more knowing that our performance was making a difference in the lives of so many affected by cancer.  It inspired me to do even more to make a difference through the HEADstrong Foundation for families fighting cancer.  I honored truly to be able to do my part on and off the playing field.  I know that I can count on our Patriots nation to join match my efforts this season.”  – Chris Hogan, #15 New England Patriots WR
