HEADstrong Foundation was founded by Nicholas Colleluori, a college student at Hofstra University who was terminally diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2005. From his hospital bed he created the organization focusing on helping families when they needed it most, providing support so that families may live with a greater dignity and normalcy. Colleluori fought to improve the inpatient experience, the affordability and accessibility of care and tackled the general concerns facing the patient population. Understanding the ripple effect and impact that a cancer diagnosis had on a family, he championed efforts to support caregivers and capital projects to improve accommodations. He empowered his own family and in the last days of his life asked them to pick up the ball where he left off. It’s a promise that the Colleluori family continues to fulfill through the essential programs and services offered by the HEADstrong Foundation.
“At La Colombe goodwill is part of who we are. We strive to be productive members of communities in which we work, from the neighborhoods around our cafes to the towns and regions where of coffee grows,” said Todd Carmichael, Founder and CEO of La Colombe. “We are proud to partner with the HEADStrong Foundation in supporting and comforting those challenged by Cancer, as well as their families, from all over the country.”
Founded under the belief that America deserves better coffee, La Colombe works directly with coffee farmers to source the best tasting, most exotic, and rarest beans, and roasts them to accentuate their natural flavors.
“We have a great deal of respect for the visionaries behind La Colombe and we are truly honored and humbled to have their support. La Colombe brews passion and is led by the notion that while amazing cup of coffee may change your mood, an amazing encounter with someone who truly cares change your life and that is the same approach that we at HEADstrong take to assisting families with cancer. We wish to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to La Colombe for embracing our cause through this Giving Tuesday partnership and look forward to working together in the future.” – Cheryl Colleluori, HF President and Nicks Mom
