HEADstrong Quaker John DeFruscio Is Eager To Join Juniata College Inaugural Lacrosse Program

Playing collegiate lacrosse has been a dream of John DeFruscio. Now, that dream has turned into a reality.

The HEADstrong Quaker has committed to Juniata College where he will play Division III lacrosse and study Business Management.

โ€œIn college, I am ready to work hard and do my best. I wanted to play lacrosse in college because it has been a dream that I have worked very hard to earn. โ€œ said John.

The Conestoga High School defender has played all 3 years so far and got involved with the HEADstrong Quakers program about six years ago.

On top of his performance on the lacrosse field, DeFruscio is a star student with a 4.0 GPA and 2 time 1st honor roll recipient.ย

HEADstrong Lacrosse is committed to helping players succeed on and off the lacrosse field and John has been the perfect example of what the program is all about.

โ€œMy favorite thing about HEADstrong is how close we are as a team and how we do a lot of community work together.โ€ remarked John.ย

John owes a huge part of his success as a player to HEADstrong and Quakers coach Dave Page, โ€œCoach Page helped me so much in the time I have known him. I am very thankful for everything he has taught me and how to become a better man. He really did a lot to help in this process as wellโ€ said John.ย

DeFruscio is in his junior year at Conestoga and although he committed early, he just knew that Junianta was the right fit for him. โ€œI had a strong gut feeling right away. When Coach (Nate) Norbo reached out to me, it felt like this was the opportunity I had been working towards. My parents and I went up to Juniata on an off-day from school and right away we sensed how special Juniata was, everyone was so welcoming and the school itself is impressive.โ€ he said.ย

John will be a part of the first lacrosse team at Junianta, and as he says it was an opportunity he couldnโ€™t pass up. Everything just lined up perfectly, from the quality of education to the chance to build something new in the lacrosse community. Junianta just made perfect sense.ย
