HOLMES, PA – The HEADstrong Foundation is proud to announce the addition of Sarah Mahony to spearhead graphic design and administrative responsibilities for the non-profit organization.  Prior to her full-time employment with the organization, Sarah served in a volunteer capacity, leading HEADstrong’s patient advocacy committee and HEADtable program.  Additionally, Mahony has also contributed as a graphic designer for the organization, helping to develop past promotional collateral and materials.  In her new role with the organization, Sarah will support the HEADstrong team by managing the daily office activities and marketing through the creative design of informational and promotional products and literature.  Prior to joining the staff at HEADstrong, Sarah has spent the past decade serving in roles with Innovairre, Leader Printers, Sony DADC and CRW Graphics.  Sarah is a graduate of Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.

In 2015, Mahony met the HEADstrong Foundation while being hospitalized on Thanksgiving.  She was inpatient and was being treated for diffused B-cell non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, the same disease that affected HEADstrong founder Nicholas Colleluori.  The organization’s core of dedicated volunteers led by the Colleluori family served the traditional holiday feast to Sarah and her family.  It was this act of generosity that sparked her connection to the cause and motivated her interest to work for the non-profit.

“I am incredibly honored to officially join the HEADstrong team.  Since meeting the organization and personally experiencing their generous and commitment to families affected by cancer, I have felt a close association to the Colleluori family and HEADstrong Foundation.  I am very excited for the opportunity and I hope to bring my talents in a way the supports the organization and allows Nick’s vision to see unprecedented heights.  This is not just a job for me, it’s personal.”  says Sarah Mahony

“We are truly honored to welcome Sarah Mahony to the HEADstrong team.  The addition of Sarah is incredibly meaningful to our family and organization.  As a survivor, Sarah is a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to our staff, our fundraisers and those we humbly serve.  We’ve had the privilege of having her involved with HEADstrong for the past 2 years in a voluntary role and she possesses an unyielding commitment and passion for our work.  As a survivor she approaches our work with the upmost respect and empathy as she fully understands our purpose and need.  Sarah is an incredibly talented graphic designer and will be an asset to our marketing team.” said Cheryl Colleluori HF President and Nick’s Mom

HEADstrong Foundation serves as a vital resource to families affected by cancer.  From diagnosis to a hopeful remission, HEADstrong plays a critical role every step of the way.  The organization was conceived by Hofstra lacrosse player Nicholas Colleluori in wake of his terminal diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  Colleluori’s public fight from the sidelines captivated the nation and from his hospital bed he created an organization focused on empowering student-

athletes to improve lives affected by the disease.  His vision was simple yet critical; helping real families when they needed it most, providing support so that families may live with a greater dignity and normalcy.  Colleluori fought to improve the inpatient experience, the affordability and accessibility of care and tackled the general concerns facing the patient population.  Understanding the ripple effect and impact that a cancer diagnosis had on a family, Colleluori championed efforts to support caregivers and capital projects to improve accommodations.  HEADstrong invests more than $.90 of every dollar into a service offering 100% committed to improving the quality of life for families affected by cancer.  The organization has assisted more than 14,000 families having allocated more than $10 million in aid.  GO LIME, is a perfect way for athletic programs to get involved this season.
