DOWNINGTOWN, PA – On Saturday, September 30th at Marsh Creek State Park from 10:00AM-1:00PM, friends of the Calvaresi family will host a very special event to support the family and a cause very near to their hearts, the HEADstrong Foundation. Organizers are encouraging the community to hit the lake and paddle out to support Deb Calvaresi and her road to recovery.
This summer, while on a sailing vacation with her family in the Virgin Islands, Deb Calvaresi sustained a traumatic head injury in an accident. She was transported to Boston, where she continues to work hard and make progress.
Paddle Out For Deb is an opportunity for the many families and acquaintances who have expressed interest in doing something positive in support of Deb in this journey of rehabilitation. Given that the Calvaresi’s have always been avid watersports participants, friends have organized this event at the Marsh Creek Water Sports Center.
Event: Paddle Out For Deb
Status: Rain or Shine
Date: Saturday, September 30, 2017

Marsh Creek Water Sports Center will generously donate 50% of all rental proceeds in support of the Calvaresi family to the HEADstrong Foundation. Representatives from the HEADstrong Foundation will be on-site to share their inspirational story and powerful mission.
The Headstrong Foundation, which the Calvaresi family has been very involved in for many years, will be on site supporting the event. The HEADstrong Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to improving lives affected by cancer and dedicated to helping families navigate their cancer journey with clarity, dignity, normalcy and quality of life, www.HEADstrong.org.
The Calvaresi family has been directly involved with the expansion of Nick’s House, a guest family home that is operated by the HEADstrong Foundation and provides complimentary lodging and support for families displaced to the Greater Philadelphia Region seeking comprehensive cancer care and clinical trials. Currently, construction and renovations are underway in Swarthmore, PA, where the organization will operate a second Nick’s House location. The new guest family home will provide an additional 2,555 nights of complimentary lodging and support.
“The Calvaresi family is very near to our hearts as we have walked a similar life path. Like so many, we were shocked by the news of Deb’s accident. The Calvaresi’s are a beautiful family that have spent a lifetime selflessly giving to others. Our thoughts, prayers and hearts are with them during this time and we pledge our unyielding support to walk side by side through Deb’s journey. We wish to thank the many friends and loved ones for organizing this event and embracing our mission. We look forward to sharing a very special day with so many wonderful people in support of this incredible family and cause.” Cheryl Colleluori, HEADstrong President and Nick’s Mom
