Famed Double Dare Host and Survivor Marc Summers To Emcee 6th Annual Lime Light Gala, 3/11
PHILADELPHIA – On Friday, March 11th television personality, comedian, game show host, producer and talk show host, Marc Summers, best known for hosting the Nickelodeon game show Double Dare, Unwrapped on Food Network and executive producer of Restaurant: Impossible will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the HEADstrong Foundation’s 6th Annual Lime Light Gala at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing.
HEADstrong President Cheryl Colleluori had the pleasure of meeting Summers during a promotional guest spot on the Preston & Steve Show on 93.3 WMMR in 2015. It was there, that while talking about an upcoming charity event, Summers revealed his cancer diagnosis, sharing that he had battled chronic lymphocytic leukemia over the past 5 years. Colleluori, was there promoting the annual Lime Light Gala at the same time and so there was an instant connection to the cause. During the interview Summers shared some of the hardships about living with cancer, the emotional, physical and mental toll that it took on him and family. He also shared news that he was “cancer free”. Following the interview Colleluori reached out and asked him to get involved with the cause by hosting the Lime Light Gala. Understanding firsthand, the significant and critical role that HEADstrong plays in the lives of families affected by cancer Summers committed, pledging his support.
Last week, Summers returned to the Preston & Steve Show alongside of event co-chairs and fellow survivors Lauren Hart, Jessy Kyle and HEADstrong President Cheryl Colleluori to talk about the HEADstrong mission and this very special upcoming event. Summers shared the importance of HEADstrong’s Nick’s House and encouraged Philadelphians to get involved with this cause that is embracing the droves of families being displaced to the region for comprehensive cancer care and clinical trials.
The 6th Annual Lime Light Gala event will be held at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing located at 201 South Columbus Boulevard from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are now available for $250 each with special pricing for tables of 10 and guests ages 15 -20. Proceeds from the Lime Light Gala will support the expansion of Nick’s House™, a facility operated by the HEADstrong Foundation™ which provides complimentary extended lodging to families traveling to Philadelphia for cancer related treatment as well as the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of Stephen J. Schuster, MD.
