Doubling Down To Attack Cancer

When Logan Olazabal first learned about the HEADstrong Foundation and Attack Cancer, he immediately saw an opportunity to get involved as both a lacrosse and football player.

At Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, 17 year-old Logan is a faceoff specialist and kicker for his school’s lacrosse and football teams, respectively. When he was approached by HEADstrong to join the Attack Cancer campaign, he knew he wanted to use both his passions to help.

He said he was really inspired by the foundation because he saw that players could blend their passion for lacrosse while trying to make an impact, something that he connected with closely. Logan lost his grandfather to stomach cancer several years ago and remembers the pain he had to go through during his fight. Improving the quality of life for cancer patients was one of the goals of HEADstrong’s late founder Nick Collelouri, and one that the foundation relentlessly pursues to this day.

Although his football season was cancelled due to COVID-19, Logan still hopes to spread the mission of the HEADstrong Foundation to his teammates, friends and family by pledging his faceoff wins during his lacrosse season this spring. In the fall when football returns, he wants to use his kicks as a vehicle for change as well.

Logan hopes to play lacrosse and football at the Division 1 level, and that he’d “love to be a two sport college athlete, that’s the dream.”
