Fundraiser Spotlight – Kelly-Ann McGrath

For Adelphi midfielder Kelly-Ann McGrath, participating in the Game Hair Havoc campaign is very personal.

In September, McGrath and her three siblings lost their mother, Tracy, to colon cancer.

“My goal is to bring more awareness to this horrible disease and raise money so research can be conducted and other families can be helped,” McGrath explained. “Having the opportunity to create a fundraising page under my name for this cause mentn a lot and I’m excited that I am able to participate in it.”

After learning about the campaign, and her teams involvement, she immediately set up a fundraising page and sent it to family. McGrath also shared it on her social media channels, as did her siblings as well as other family members and friends.

While McGrath, a freshman from Franklin Park, N.Y., is still waiting for the Adelphi season to begin, she is excited to be able to showcase different hairstyles for games and see what her teammates come up with.

“I’ve always done a cool hairstyle and it’s never meant anything, but now I’m excited to be able to do a different style each game and that there is an actual cause behind it,” she said.
