Cancer Survivor and Lacrosse Official Jerry Hudgins launches Flag Down on Cancer, Set for Friday July 3rd, 2020

Jerry and Lori Hudgins have been avid supporters of the HEADstrong Foundation for over 10 years. HEADstrong was by the Hudgins’ family side all throughout Jerry’s own battle with cancer and as a way to celebrate a year of remission, the family has partnered with the HEADstrong Foundation to create the Flag Down on Cancer Virtual 5k Run and BBQ on Friday July 3rd, 2020. 

The Hudgins family is looking to combine two worlds that they are passionate about, to benefit the community that they never planned to be a part of. Now that Jerry is cancer free for over a year, he is calling on his lacrosse community to join his effort of raising funds to improve lives affected by cancer. As an avid official and coach, Jerry knows the game inside and out and also knows how the lacrosse world can come together to make an impact. His son has spent his last couple of seasons pledging his stats, and raising donations from family and friends based on his playing performance. Knowing that many athletes might have a bit of rust on their sticks coming out of the quarantine, the Hudgins are challengings participants to grab their lacrosse sticks and join them on a virtual 5k. Following the run, spend time with your family and kick off your July 4th Holiday Weekend with a BBQ featuring your favorite recipe. For the Hudgins, uniting the lacrosse community and their families through the sport and home cooking is the perfect vehicle to raise funds for cancer patients. 

The Hudgins family understands first hand how a cancer diagnosis completely uproots your life and this is their way of helping others in their fight, so that no one fights alone. Register today to start fundraising, and on July 3rd, all are encouraged to participate in the virtual event by grabbing your lacrosse stick and heading out on a run or walk in honor of all of those currently battling the disease, celebrating our heroes and remembering those we have lost.
