BRADY

Coronado, Calif. – June 21, 2011 – The all-star lacrosse powerhouse Brady’s Bunch went undefeated in elite division play to take home the championship title in the Adrenaline Coronado Classic. The event took place June 18 and 19 in Coronado, Calif. On day one, the Bunch outscored opponents by an astounding 35-5 margin and notched wins over OC Kings Purple, Mavericks LC, and the NorCal Braves. On day two, Brady’s Bunch defeated the Vegas Starz, LA Lazers in the semifinal and Zip-it Elite to clinch the championship. In six straight wins, Brady’s Bunch outscored opponents 65-17.

For this unique team, it was fitting to bring home a victory on Father’s Day for Coach Mike Wein, affectionately known as “Papi”. Wein founded Brady’s Bunch in 2009 shortly after his infant son Brady Lyn Arthur Wein began battling AML – Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. With the team decked out in new uniforms emblazoned with the blood cancer ribbon and the number 12 on the shorts, Brady’s presence was felt each and every time the Bunch took the field.

“This is more than a lacrosse team, it’s a family,” said Coach Matt Lewis, co-founder of Brady’s Bunch. “We play for something greater than winning. We play for Brady.”

Prior to the tournament, Bunch coaches created two special uniforms, #12 with Brady on the back and #27 bearing the name Colleluori, to be worn by two representative inspirational players. Shane O’Neill was chosen to wear Brady #12, while Tyler Ekeroth was chosen to wear Colleluori #27, in honor of Nick Colleluori and his HEADstrong Foundation. In addition to the introduction of these special uniforms, the entire Brady’s Bunch team and coaching staff wore the HEADstrong Foundation’s signature lime green shoelaces.

The Brady’s Bunch U-19 team, made up of elite players from eight different states, will play in three tournaments this summer including the Vail Shootout June 26 – 30 and Sonoma Shootout July 15-17.
