Big City Classic Success

April 10, 2010 – East Rutherford, NJ

The HEADstrong Foundation, recognized as the Charity of Choice by Inside Lacrosse at Saturday’s Konica Minolta Big City Classic’s, realized a triumphant day as the goal of raising awareness about blood cancer was achieved. Thousands of people stopped by the HEADstrong booth; many were aware of the Foundation’s mission and its founder, Nicholas “HEAD” Colleluori, and simply expressed their support. For others, it was a learning experience as it was their first encounter with Nick’s legacy, the HEADstrong Foundation.

20 ball boys were chosen for the games and each represented the Foundation in a lime green “HEADstrong” dri-fit shirt.

A special thanks to the referees of the games, each wore special lime green and black uniforms including lime green laces which were made especially for this event, and to Warren Kimber for his continued support. They were possible thanks to a donation from Lacrossewear!

A basket filled with all of the HEADstrong Foundation apparel, a custom Cascade helmet, and Brine King II gloves valued at over $500 was won by Jordan Dowiak.

The HEADstrong Foundation is especially grateful to Hofstra University Men’s Lacrosse Team, University of Delaware Men’s Lacrosse Team, and University of North Carolina Lacrosse team for showing their support of the Foundation’s efforts by sporting lime green laces during the games. This showed true character.

In keeping with the spirit of the day, ESPNU announcers, Quint Kessenich and Carter Blackburn wore the HEADstrong Foundation custom ties.

The Foundation is most appreciative to its partner, Inside Lacrosse for selecting the Foundation as Charity of Choice for this event, for allowing the Foundation this opportunity, and for recognizing our cause, defeating blood cancer, and improving the lives of those affected.
