Attack Cancer Spotlight – Taryn Dolka

Taryn Dolka has held onto a HEADstrong Foundation wristband for over a decade. The senior field hockey goalkeeper from Ocean City, New Jersey grew up attending lacrosse events with her brother, always stopping by the HF tent.

Now, she is participating in Attack Cancer to honor her late grandfather, thanks to a reminder from that wristband.

“I decided to participate in Attack Cancer because I wanted to make an impact myself,” Taryn explained. “My grandfather was an incredibly passionate person. He succumbed to kidney cancer as a result of many years of service for the United States in Vietnam and Germany.”

Taryn’s Pop-Pop was one of her biggest fans. It would have been his dream to watch his granddaughter play Division I for Lock Haven University next year, but his presence is certainly not forgotten.

“He supported me throughout my athletic career and always motivated me to perform at my best,” she said. “I truly believe that he is watching over me. I think of him being with me when I make a big save.”

Taryn is an exemplary athlete who has capitalized on what it means to pledge your performance. She is doing what she can to spread awareness for her grandfather’s story every time she steps on the field. Join Taryn and Attack Cancer through the link in our bio.
