Attack Cancer Spotlight – Rylee Dennis

There is undoubtedly a difference between the perspective of a 12-year-old and a 17-year-old. Rylee Dennis is a senior field hockey player from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, who was just 12 when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now, she is attacking cancer with the HEADstrong Foundation.

As a 12-year-old when my mom was diagnosed, I didn’t really understand the significance of what was happening,” she explained. “Now, I understand that we got so lucky and I try to really appreciate everyone around me.”

She had heard about the HEADstrong Foundation and was immediately interested in doing anything possible to help the cause in her final season at Downingtown East High School.

Said Rylee, “I am playing for my mom and anyone else who has gone through this journey. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that you are able to help others by doing something simple. It’s all about playing the sport that you love and recognizing a greater cause.”

Rylee is incredibly grateful that her mother was able to beat cancer, and she encourages anyone to get involved with Attack Cancer.

“There is nothing like it. It really makes a difference in the lives of those battling cancer. I know that support is one of the most important things for a person and a family affected by cancer and participating in Attack Cancer is so easy and the perfect way to do so.”
