Dear HEADstrong Supporters,
From our 2nd annual Run the Park 5k to our Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic events, this fall has been just incredible with raising awareness and funds.
We were so proud to see such camaraderie, compassion, sportsmanship and character which spoke to the class and caliber of each of the participating teams. Special thanks for our hosting coaches, Shannon Smith and Seth Tierney of Hofstra University, Dave Pietramala of Johns Hopkins University, Taylor Wray of St. Joseph’s University and Mike Murphy and Karen Corbett of University of Pennsylvania. We have achieved our goal of igniting the philanthropic spirit of the collegiate lacrosse community and strengthening our commitment to those devastated by the costs of cancer care with 86 families benefitting and contributing $10,000 to the research effort.
Lacrosse Mustache Madness has just begun and is off to a tremendous start and truly has the potential to break all records, click here www.LaxStacheMadness.com to learn how you can get growing. These funds will have a direct impact on families.
Just this week, I traveled to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NY to spend time with a 15 year old girl and her family while she received chemotherapy for stage 3 cancer; spoke with the family of a 16 year old lacrosse player from Long Island offering advice and guidance assuring them that they’re not alone. We assisted a family from Salt Lake City arranging accommodations so that they can receive a lifesaving attempt to save their loved one; played bingo with inpatient oncology patients to break up the monotony offering an escape for an hour or two.
Finally, we hosting 12 hero’s at the Flyer’s game in Claude Giroux’s suite – all in an attempt to provide normalcy, the one common thing that we hear over and over again, “I just want to be normal”. This is just a glimpse of our everyday and our promise to Nick at work
In closing, for just $25 you can provide a Thanksgiving meal to a patient allowing them to enjoy the holiday while receiving inpatient care. Click here to donate – Give a Turkey
None of this could not be possible without you. Thank you so much for your continued support.
