Advancing The Mission, HEADstrong Launches Step aHEAD 27 Campaign

Holmes, PA – With September recognized as Blood Cancer Awareness Month the HEADstrong Foundation™ (HF™) is seizing the opportunity to launch Step aHEAD 27; a new campaign focused on inspiring generosity with the purpose of advancing the HEADstrong mission of improving quality of life for those affected by blood cancers and supporting those working to eliminate the diseases.

Over the next 27 months HF™ will seek to increase their contributions by over 27%, which will help generate over $4.27 million dollars. The funds raised will allow the organization to introduce services to new areas and new cancer treatment centers while building upon existing relationships and initiatives.

“Step aHEAD 27 is the next phase in the progression of the HEADstrong Foundation. This is a pivotal time for our organization and the demand for our assistance has never been greater. The funds generated through this new capital campaign will be vital in allowing us to have a greater impact for so many families devastated by these diseases. As a mother and a caregiver I only wish the services offered by HEADstrong existed for our Nick and our family during his battle. This campaign will ensure more families that they are not alone in their fight and allow us to have a significant impact on their behalf.” Cheryl Colleluori, HF President and Nick’s Mom

Since 2008, HF™ has grown significantly serving as a direct resource to those devastated harsh realities of the disease. To date, HF™ has raised a staggering $5.5 million dollars, with over $2.5 million dollars directly supporting 1,800 families from over 32 states through their financial assistance program. The organization’s volunteer core has served home-style meals over 7,000 patients, this year they added an entertainment component allowing for outlets such as movies, games, comedians, arts and performances to take place for patients and their families. HF™ has contributed over $1,300,000 to innovative research through the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund and operates Nick’s House™ a facility which provides complimentary lodging and accommodations to cancer patients and their families.
HF™ is focused on finding new ways of providing support, collaborating with medical centers such as the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center, to bridge the gap, identifying the hardships that plague both patients and their families and they are complimenting medicals teams by creating viable solutions to improve the patient and caregiver experience.
